The west coast of Madeira is lush and fertile. The flora and fauna are rich and diverse. Due to the tropical climate on this part of the island, many fruits such as bananas and mangos which would normally grow in tropical climates thrive here in abundance.

Located in the middle of the North Atlantic ocean closer to the African continent than Europe the island is steeped in history.
